I don’t know why!

If you still think that we have a fully functioning government …

If you still think that we have a constitutional republic …

If you still think that we honor our uniquely American culture …

If you still think that we live under the rule of law …

If you still think that our judicial system is impartial …

If you still think that you can get a fair trial …

If you still think that you have uninfringeable rights …

If you still think that we live in a Christian society …

If you still think that our infrastructure is sound …

If you still think that you are safe in your environment …

If you still think that our education system is superior …

If you still think that we can vote in a government responsive to the people …

If you still think that our nation as established can survive …

Repost from NC Renegades

If We Are In Fact Legion, Why Won’t We Trust In Ourselves, Our God And Stand And Fight?

Are you ready to be brave and stand up for your children? For all children? I often hear parents say they would take a bullet for their kids. Would you? Would you really? When is it enough? Would you stand up for yourself? Would you defend Liberty for yourself and the future generations? Why must we continue to wait for trouble to show up on our doorstep before we act? That’s not much of a plan and I don’t much like dying a martyr.

R.I.P. L. Neil Smith (1946-2021)

My friend of thirty-plus years, libertarian activist, science fiction author, and lifelong gunsmith L. Neil Smith passed away two days ago. We ‘met’ on his Lever Action BBS, corresponded frequently, worked together for years on The Libertarian Enterprise, and remained close friends despite never actually having laid eyes on each other. I admired him for his principles, his talent, and his cheerfully curmudgeonly way. We hated all the same people, loved many of the same things, and shared a lot of kindred thoughts. His loss is irreparable for me. My thoughts and prayers (yes, Neil, in spite of your principled atheism!) go out to his wife Cathy and daughter Rylla.

I’ll see you further on down the road, old friend.

Generations flow, you know

I get it. Everybody needs somebody to blame. But arguing that “boomers” are responsible for the dysfunctional society that you see today is taking the short view of it. Generations are not static; they flow from one to the next, each carrying its inherited traits while creating new ones. Each generation looks back with nostalgia and forward with fear; always have, always will. The “Greatest Generation”, for all its merits, turned itself into the first generation of ‘consumers’ virtually overnight. And their children – the “Boomers” – learned from that.

No, the current ‘decline’ in American society (or any other one throughout recorded history) can be laid squarely at the feet of “progress”. Once we created a government too large to be controlled we sealed our fate. Every step since has been one more down the road to ruin.

But fear not, “Gen X-ers” and “Millenials”. ‘The Great Reset’ may well not turn out the way the PTB intend. And you and your children wil have the arduous yet enjoyable task of rebuilding a society. I wish you well. Read lots of history … if you can find any remaining.

Love and Hate

I love my country. I will do all that I can to defend her people and her way of life.

I hate my government. I will do all that I can to resist it and its destruction of my country.

I love the people who love this country. I will do all that I can to defend them and their way of life.

I hate the people who hate this country. I will do all that I can to resist them and their destruction of my country.

Palm Sunday

The next day a great multitude that had come to the feast, when they heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem, took branches of palm trees and went out to meet Him, and cried out:
“Hosanna!
‘Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!’
The King of Israel!”
Then Jesus, when He had found a young donkey, sat on it; as it is written:
“Fear not, daughter of Zion;
Behold, your King is coming,
Sitting on a donkey’s colt.”
~ John 12: 12-15

Hubris

Remember that we all are brothers
All people, beasts, tree and stone and wind
We all descend from the one great being
That was always there
Before people lived and named it
Before the first seed sprouted

Heilung

We have become “civilized” which as with all things has its light and dark aspects.

Lately it seems that our hubris rules our actions. We have come to believe that we are capable of controlling all things through a combination of denial of evidence and relying on feelings rather than intellect. Such a belief is to me prima facie evidence of madness.

This belief system produces nothing good, as nearly as I can tell. It’s an illogical extension of my generation’s meaningless phrase, “If it feels good, do it!” We are the current product of our evolution as a species, both physical and mental. If we deny from whence we came, then we become detached, and if we insist that we are all the same then we become indistinguishable.

When the Founders said that “all men are created equal”, they were referring quite literally to our creation, not to some sort of “Homogenus” species — please forgive the play on words.

As our current American culture devolves, it becomes clear to me that each step away from our roots is a step backward.
