A Disturbing Parallel

It has occurred to me that what we are seeing in our country today has a troubling historic parallel.

There is a movement — whether or not it is controlled by shadowy evil forces is irrelevant here — to decry “racism” and “white privilege”. In the 1850s there was a movement — whether or not it was controlled by shadowy evil forces is irrelevant here — to decry “slavery”. In 1859, John Brown and his gang attacked the federal arsenal at Harper’s Ferry, VA.

Today, there is no John Brown but there is Antifa or, if you prefer, BLM. John Brown was neither an abolitionist nor a martyr. Neither Antifa nor BLM are truly interested in people of any ‘color’. The riots and attacks across our nation are as false as Brown’s raid. Brown was an insane murderer. Antifa and BLM are modern society’s insane equivalents.

Brown’s actions were a major factor in inducing the War of Northern Aggression. Will the actions of these groups hasten our domestic decline? I think that the answer is clearly “Yes”.

footnote: for an excellent treatment of John Brown which directly prompted this piece, please see James Bovard’s superb column as re-published in Dr. Boyd Cathey’s “My Corner” blog entry linked herein.

Love and Hate

I love my country. I will do all that I can to defend her people and her way of life.

I hate my government. I will do all that I can to resist it and its destruction of my country.

I love the people who love this country. I will do all that I can to defend them and their way of life.

I hate the people who hate this country. I will do all that I can to resist them and their destruction of my country.
